Welcome to the web sites that are mostly dedicated to the tinker’s art.

Wire is known for 4000 years. However, the tinker’s trade emerged in the 17th century in Slovakia. Due to lack of other job opportunities and a mass wave of immigration in the 19th century it rapidly spread all over the world. At the beginning, tinkers specialized in mending of kitchen clay utensils. Later began to make various objects of wire and metal plate for farming and households. These objects were more sophisticated and decorated with decorative elements issuing from Slovak folk ornamentation.

Nowadays, wire and the original technique of working with it is a source of inspiration not only for artists. This original folk craft became a favorite hobby for hundreds of people. We can meet them at the traditional fairs and other occasions. They present not only the craft of decorating of eggs, pottery, stone and other materials but also show to the onlookers how to make traditional utility wire objects for households.

All objects that are presented in these sites are my works. I hope you will like them.
